What Is a Tube Bundle?

A tube bundle is the internal tube assembly of a heat exchanger—the coil-and-tube core that actually transfers heat, mounted inside a shell or connected to headers. When that core wears out or fails, replacing just the tube bundle is usually far cheaper and faster than replacing the whole heat exchanger or water heater.

Just send us a picture of the nameplate on the heat exchanger or water heater, and we typically will have enough information to put together a quote—or a Mainstream representative can field-measure the existing unit directly. Standard lead times for tube bundles run 2–3 weeks, with expedites nearly always available and, in some cases, turnaround as fast as 24 hours.
