Failed Fan

One of the fans failed catastrophically, causing an unacceptable loss of airflow. Rebuilding the existing fans was estimated to take at least four weeks, and a direct replacement was quoted with eight-week lead times.

Equipment Being Replaced:

Two 150-horsepower belt-driven plenum fans in a large air handler serving operating rooms and acute care patient rooms.

Hospital Fan Replacement

Cooper University Hospital hired Highland Associates, an engineering consulting firm, to source a replacement as quickly as possible. Mainstream was able to quote and deliver a replacement fan array of fifteen 17.5 horsepower fans in under 2 weeks.

This solution provided the facility with redundancy and significantly improved efficiency and reliability. The facility is now retrofitting further air handling units with IntelliCUBE fan arrays.

Our IntelliCUBE fan array has given Cooper greater confidence in such a critical air handler. Installation was quick and easy, and noise and vibration are significantly reduced compared to traditional fan configurations. The fans are maintenance free, which is a significant consideration in our plan to upgrade other air handlers with this system.
